‘At Home with Amy Sedaris’ nominated for an Emmy

Best of luck and fingers crossed for Monday night! At Home with Amy Sedaris is nominated for an Emmy award for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series! Check out this interview with Amy in the New York Times: Amy Sedaris Is Excited for the Emmys. She Just Has to Find a Rabbit Sitter.

Season 2 filming is currently underway. No word yet on an air date, but my guess would be this coming winter. Stay tuned!

At Home with Amy Sedaris renewed for season 2!

It’s official! TruTV has renewed At Home with Amy Sedaris for a second season! That’s right, we’re on track to get 10 more glorious episodes. Production is slated to begin later this year–which, of course, means that we likely won’t get another October premiere, but hey, it’s coming back!

More details to come!

Amy visits The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

Amy made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to show off her “close” impression of Erykah Badu, chat about making change to do her laundry by hosting yard sales in her home, and demo the hottest toys for Christmas. Watch it here!

Amy also paid a visit to the SiriusXM studios for the annual Holiday Hangout with Andy Cohen. Always a good time! This was live, but you can watch the entire thing on SiriusXM’s Facebook page.

Speaking of Facebook, make sure you’re following the Amy Sedaris’ Medicine Cabinet page if you’re not already. There’s a lot that I post there that I don’t necessarily always post here, and if I find things out with short notice, they go on Facebook first–so make sure you’re following that to stay up to speed!

Amy on AOL Build Series, where to find the show on streaming

Amy dropped by the AOL Build Series studio in NYC yesterday to discuss At Home with Amy Sedaris. Watch it here!

I’m also seeing a lot of comments around from people who want to watch the show, but have dropped their cable or don’t get truTV. No problem! You can still get the series on Amazon Video, iTunes, Google Play, Vudu, the TruTV app, and probably other streaming services. Trust me, it will basically be the best 20 bucks you’ve ever spent.

Amy on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

It’s finally here! The series premiere of At Home with Amy Sedaris is TONIGHT! Pinch me! 10:30 pm (ET) on truTV with repeats at 12:30 am, and Wednesday, October 25, at 5:30 pm.

Cut your cable? No problem! You can purchase a season pass for the show on Amazon Video.

And if you missed Amy’s fantastic segment on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night, here you go. Seriously SO good, and so reminiscent of her Letterman appearances. It was Amy’s [long overdue] first time visiting the show, but hopefully won’t be the last. Enjoy!

At Home with Amy Sedaris is just two days away! I attended the premiere at the Bowery Hotel in NYC last week, and I can assure you, you’re in for an incredible treat. The show, which is honestly difficult to describe, is like a brilliant mash-up of Martha Stewart on acid and Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, with a hefty added dose of whimsy and a homespun feel. It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen, in the very best way. Fans of Strangers with Candy will rejoice, as tinges of the show are undoubtedly there, from a catatonic pet bird (think Jerri’s catatonic father) to Stephen Colbert’s Noblet-esque guest appearance. The show was co-created by Amy and Paul Dinello, so I was delighted to find that At Home and Strangers share a very similar tone and sense of humor.

The theme of the episode screened at the premiere was gift-giving, and the show was comprised of a few segments revolving around the topic. I don’t want to give too much away, since a lot of the fun with At Home with Amy Sedaris is how each scene is more ridiculous than the last. That said, I found the best part to be the running gag with guest star Nick Kroll as Randy Fingerling, a dirty old fling who tries to seduce Amy with his coupon book for everything under the sun “with full release.”

At Home with Amy Sedaris is everything I wanted it to be, and then some. It’s the funniest thing I’ve seen in ages, and exactly what the world needs right now. I laughed so hard, I could barely breathe, and then immediately declared it to be my new all-time favorite show. It’s an insane amount of fun. I had ridiculously high expectations going into the screening, and this series completely blew them out of the water.

You can catch the premiere of At Home with Amy Sedaris this Tuesday night, October 24, at 10:30 pm (ET) on truTV. And don’t forget that Amy FINALLY visits The Late Show with Stephen Colbert for the very first time tomorrow, Monday, October 23!

The High Test

Check out this fantastic write-up on Bedford + Bowery, At Home With Amy Sedaris Is a Treat For Strangers With Candy Fans, Colbert and All–which includes a recap of the first episode (screened at the Tribeca TV Festival)… It sounds–in the words of Jerri Blank, of course–hilaaaaaaaarious. I am already dying over, “Remember the potato ships from Simple Times: Crafts for Poor People? She makes them again in the premiere, once again klutzing around with fake fingernails and getting glue all over the place.” And, “Don’t worry, Sedaris lets her freak flag fly by playing special guests such as … Patty Hogg, a scrappy Southerner who grills lamb chops in the middle of her country club and takes charge of the show when Sedaris gets depressed about a dead pet.” So good! Head over to the post for more tidbits on the show.

You can also watch the full interview on Tribeca’s Facebook page.

At Home With Amy Sedaris is just one month away!

Amy Sedaris returns to television just one month from today! It’s hard to believe it’s been seventeen years already since Amy has had her own show (Strangers With Candy ended in 2000), but we won’t have to wait much longer! truTV released a new trailer for At Home with Amy Sedaris and it looks BEYOND! This show is going to be out of control. Make sure you’re following the show on Facebook and Instagram for tons of behind-the-scenes and sneak peeks. (Seriously–jump over to those social media accounts for sooooo much fun stuff. That’s why I’ve taken a back seat to posting.)
