Win the Simple Times Audiobook!

Grand Central Publishing is giving away 5 copies of the audiobook version of Amy’s new book, Simple Times: Crafts for Poor People! All you have to do is leave a comment on this post with your favorite character that Amy has played (i.e. Jerri Blank, Amber on Exit 57,… whatever) no later than Friday, October 22, 5:00 pm EST. I’ll then use a random number generator to pick the 5 winners.

When you leave a comment, make sure you enter a valid e-mail address. If you win, and I can’t get in touch to get your mailing address, I’ll have to pick another number.

Contest rules:
-Only residents of the U.S. and Canada are eligible to win.
-No P.O. boxes, please.
-Winners will be subject to one copy per household (which means that if you win
Simple Times here and on another blog, you will only receive one copy of the audiobook).
-Only one entry per person, please
-Your comment must be made on this post on amysedarisrocks.com. Replies via e-mail, or on Facebook or Twitter will not count.

(By the way, your reply itself has no effect on winning since winners will be picked by a random number generator. I’m just asking you to answer the question, “What’s your favorite character that Amy has played?” so I can tell you’re not a spambot.)

  1. Scott D. says:

I love each & every character that Amy has portrayed; but for the sake of this contest I will choose Cinnamon – the stripper from the Wigfield audiobook.

  2. Beth says:

As a huge fan of spices and Jewish birthstones, I’d have to go with either Pepper Mills or Topaz Radulavitch.

  3. Norn says:

    my favorite Amy characters:
    • JERI (of course)
    • DOTTIE FORE (from WIGFIELD)
    • Her clown/marriage counselor character in WONDER OF THE WORLD
    • MAELLA PADGETT (also from WIGFIELD)
    • The Carny in Dolly Parton’s BETTER GET TO LIVIN’ video!

  4. Dustin says:

Jerri Blank is her most fully formed character because she got to play it so long, but Topaz Radulavitch is #1 for me. After all, she “could still love an assistant manager.”

  5. Justin Bonsey says:

Piglet (on Conan Piglet stars in a Lifetime movie), I love this character also because I got to ask her to do Piglet on her last book tour and she did.

  6. Joanna! says:

That dirty slut Jerri. Mainly because I unintentionally always did Jerri mental faces before the show and after watching it, I felt validated. So Thanks to you Amy!

  7. Chris says:

I adored her character, Pepper Mills from “Wheels of Fury”. 😀 Of course Jerri Blank is Queen but Pepper deserves a shoutout.

  8. Lynn says:

So many good characters to choose from! What to pick, what to pick….

I loved the character, Abby, she played on “The Middle” but also Frances Stein on “The New Adventures of Old Christine.”

Jerri Blank and Principal Hoffman are always favorites too!

It was wonderful seeing her play a more dramatic role as Barb in “Snow Angels” but the role was unfortunately highly underrated.

  9. Tom Sykes says:

Love Jerri Blank~saw you on the Letterman show~the 15th of Oct~Great Girl! !. You are Wondreful~hook up with Tracy Ulman & you 2 could control the COMEDY WORL !!!! Oh ya…I want to win !!
    Tom

  10. Dave Ehrlich says:

Piglet!! Jerri’s a living dream, sure, but Piglet is a sublime nightmare creation like no other.

  11. Lawrence Snelly says:

PIGLET!!! She did it for us when we met her years ago. we all taped out noses up and had a ball!

  12. Deborah Carlson says:

I loved hearing you read on the audiobook version of Barrel Fever with your brother! You two are awesome.

  13. Patty Huerta says:

so many choices! jerri blank always will hold a special place in my heart. she is, after all, one of my idols/heros. but i did also love cinnamon, and even though i only saw it one, piglet was great too.

but i’m gonna go with Dina the Christmas Whore. her voice rings through my head year round.

  14. Magdolene Lives says:

Since Jerri is practically a given, I think I’ll go with Cinnamon from Wakefield with a VERY close runner-up being the character she plays when interviewed by Stephen Colbert (squee for her December appearance!). Third would be her character from Rescue Me.

  15. Peggy-Sue says:

“I GOT SOMETHING TO SAY!!!” Jerri Blank = good times. (although anything Amy Sedaris plays automatically becomes my favourite character!)

  16. Jennifer says:

Just to be different, I’ll say as Judy on “My Name is Earl.” You can never go wrong with a crazy cat lady.

  17. Lia June says:

I know it’s not a character, but Amy Sedaris on Letterman is just about my favorite thing of all time.

  18. Rob says:

I have to say Cinnamon from Wigfield. I got to see it live at the Sommervile Theater and since then K.O.K.O. has been my mission statement.

  19. steff says:

oh man, i think i’ve gotta second comment #125 (Kristi) bc she WAS totally amazing as Randy’s gf on MNIE. in truth tho, my heart will always belong to jerry…
